A Place in the WoodsHere I stand at our home's gate wishing you here too,  to see what I see, and hear what I hear, and know the smells that I knew,  as I lay stretched out amid tall grasses all day long thinking of you.  A cool breeze blows through the trees high above my head,  and the grass bristles back up from where I've jumped showing the way that I've tread.  The grass is yellow, the trees rich green, the sky a dull blue haze,  but then that's how it usually is these hot and humid midsummer days.  I hear the crows cawing and other birds chirp as shelter they seek to find,  and a million other sounds pound at the gro A Place in the Woods

  • Eating: chili dip & chips
  • Drinking: juice
So . . . I quit my job. My family is all like, "Congratulations!"

If only the chess team in sixth grade had been so enthusiastic . . . no wait, that would have just made me feel like more of a loser in the, "Yay, you're gone! Now maybe will win a few!" sort of way. My family being enthused after I quit a stressful, low pay job that's far from my home is more like support in the "We love you and like that you made this decision" sort of way.

Anyway, aside from lessons in World Class Customer Service, the job also has seemed to give me a somewhat bitter undertone flanked by cautious optimism. Or maybe I already had those, but before I think I was more scared/optimistic and less bitter. Something about having supervisors who treat you like a wayward child and a naive quality assurance team, not to mention minimum wage for work that should be at least $9.00 an hour, and that's underselling myself a bit. Come on, now, $1.00 per call? Regardless of how long it takes? Seriously . . . and they're actually trying to lower their turnover rate. YEAH RIGHT.

So, now I'm cleaning up the house a little bit and leisurely looking for another job.

It involves how the couple holds each other. The woman's hand on the guy's upper arm, his hand on her shoulder, the other hands clasped together at the eye level of the shorter person, bodies parallel . . . this has to be kept consistent and firm so that the couple moves in unison.
